Following on from the events of "Resurrection", the Doctor has regenerated into his new persona and the TARDIS is critically damaged.
This Doctor is suffering loss after the death of two friends and being forced to leave behind his old companions. When he finds himself in the post-war village of Saxerby he meets Mary Auckland, a girl who opens up his desire for adventure again. But she also drives him to delve back into his past and try to put right a mistake that happened so long ago...
Despite his thirst for adventure, this new Doctor is much more secretive than this previous incarnation, preferring to keep things close to his chest and only reveal information when he needs to. This in turn causes Mary to continuously dig more and more into the Doctor's personality.
Mary Auckland (Antonia Clarke)
Mary Auckland is a 24 year old young woman from a small, idyllic village called Saxerby. When she meets the Doctor it's 1949, four years after the end of the war, and Mary is still very much missing her brother and father who were killed during the Blitz.
She has spent the last few years of her life working at the post office with her mother, but when she meets the Doctor she realises that there is more to the world than the isolated little village. She also begins to see the Doctor as a father figure and hopes that by accompanying him on his journeys that she may be able to heel her pain.
